When City Met Tushy: An Exploration of Portland’s Public Seating

To be able to truly, inclusively linger in a place requires seating–and not all seating is created equal. In this walk, we’ll explore and discuss the various public seating options throughout downtown Portland: their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and what it all means for the strength of a public space. Will we test-sit each option? Certainly. Will we people-watch? Absolutely. Will we come away with a sharper understanding of what it takes to make a genuinely inclusive, inviting, quality public space? Obviously. Get ready to sit (and walk).
