This walk will explore some of the locations around Farmington that will appear in my upcoming novel, The Abbott Boys: Finding Home. We will be walking a considerable distance around downtown Farmington, so comfortable walking shoes are a must. Water is also a good to bring along. We will stop at a location, I will give a bit of history of the place, then I will read a passage relating to the place from my new book. In some locations, we will hear an except from the 1910s section of the book, while in others, we will hear an except from the more-modern era (2001). Walk (with stopping) should take between 1.5 and 2 hours.
Accessibility:
We will be walking on mostly sidewalks. We may pop into Abbott Park over the bridges to see the foundation stones of Edward Abbott Hall, which is smooth, but off the path.
Starting Location:
We will meet at Lot 11, which is adjacent to Abbott Park and the Roberts Learning Center of UMF (Lower Lot near Rollo Pond).Ending Location:
We will end the walk where we began.Farmington, Maine 04938
