Monson Sculpture Project Tour

Mark Herrington's sculpture's "Ellsworth Schist on Monson Slate"

We will take a walk to each of the five sculpture in Monson Maine along a half mile stretch of town. Each piece was created with the intention of being displayed in different towns in Maine as a large scale traveling exhibition. The artists are all part of the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium – Jesse Salisbury, Kazumi Hoshino, Celeste Roberge, Tim Shay and Mark Herrington.

Accessibility:

This walk goes from a roughly paved sidewalk to a grass yard with one short steep section. We can avoid the steep path by backtracking to a gentler slope. If walking on the grass is impossible, we can adjust to talk about the pieces from afar, and take time for exploration after the walk.

Starting Location:

Meet outside of the Monson Arts Gallery on the patio to the left.

Ending Location:

We will end at the Tenney House with the last sculpture. From here people can walk back towards the center of town.
