We will trace past and present day land uses of the Richardson Memorial Preserve in Unity as related to soils, geography and agricultural markets over time. In the process we will discover some historical relics offering clues of past land uses. We will walk approximately one mile on uneven terrain while exploring soils, geology, vegetation and land uses while discovering some historical relics. Bring comfortable walking shoes, bug repellant and water.
In the case of inclement weather or conditions, this walk may occur under the protective cover of a warmed outbuilding to keep participants comfortable! We will collectively determine if that is warranted in the planned parking area at the start of the walk.
Light refreshments will be served at the end of the walk so that participants can continue conversations and mingle if they so choose.
